Founder & CEO
Gail L. Freeman is Founder and President of Freeman Philanthropic Services, L.L.C., a full-service firm offering a broad range of services including fund-raising consulting, training, and executive search for leading not-for-profit organizations nationwide. As a recognized leader in the not-for-profit field, Ms. Freeman brings more than twenty-five years of experience in executive recruitment. Her broad experience and multi-faceted knowledge base bring a complete perspective to the Firm’s numerous clients. Throughout her career, Ms. Freeman has worked in a variety of capacities in the not-for-profit field. Prior to the establishment of her namesake firm, Ms. Freeman served as Vice President and Director for a national retained executive search firm, where she led the Development & Institutional Advancement practice. In this capacity, she managed all aspects of the search process, including client relationships, research, networking, qualification, and final selection of candidates.
Derek C. Bellin has recruited over 150 positions as an advancement professional. At FPS, he has most recently recruited multiple positions for Tufts University in preparation for their $1 billion comprehensive campaign. Mr. Bellin brings 16 years of experience directing five comprehensive financial resource development campaigns ranging in scale from $92 million to $2.85 billion for Stanford University, the Sierra Club, Columbia University, and Case Western Reserve University where he served as Chief Marketing, Communications and Development Officer. His leadership of these campaigns and advancement programs has achieved the highest recognition by the Council of Advancement and Support of Education (Columbia), PR Week Awards and the Sabres Awards Holmes Report (CASE).
Kevin Clark has recruited more than 80 positions in the not-for-profit sector and has successfully recruited top leadership to various areas of the sector both nationally and internationally including higher education, cultural organizations, hospitals, social service and advocacy groups. Mr. Clark works on all aspects of the search with a strong concentration on position profile development, candidate references, and interviewing. Kevin has worked in the not-for-profit sector for more than ten years. Previously, he was a consultant to a national retained recruitment firm.
John W. Corwin, a past not-for-profit executive, provides job counseling to potential candidates in the not-for-profit sector. To date, he has had the opportunity to counsel more than 300 individuals and conducts extensive references as a representative of FPS.
Sherley Desulme conducts extensive references for FPS. She holds her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University and her M.A. from New York University.
Ann Jeffrey provides networking, recruiting and reference checking services to FPS. She has more than 24 years of experience as an executive recruiter and holds an MSW from Washington University in St. Louis. She received the 2005 Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC) Award for Excellence and Professionalism in Research.
Nina Kayem provides executive search, recruiting and research services to FPS. She has more than 21 years experience as an executive recruiter and holds her MFA from Yale University. Nina is a former board member of The Executive Search Roundtable.
Carmel started working on executive search projects with Freeman Philanthropic in 2003. Some of her recent searches include Vice President for Development for the Newark Campus of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Senior Executive Director of Development for Tufts University School of Engineering and Director of Major/Planned Gifts for the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Foundation.
Tara M. Reese is a Senior Project Manager for Freeman Philanthropic Services, LLC, a national leader in executive recruitment for the not-for-profit sector, specializing in recruiting leaders for higher education institutions, hospitals, academic medical centers, social service, cultural, performing arts, and advocacy organizations.
Linda N. Spencer is a Senior Consultant with Freeman Philanthropic Services who has spent the majority of her career in leadership positions in the not-for-profit sector, both on staff in senior positions in prestigious New York and international non-profits or as a consultant. Her experience includes extensive board management and development with top executives and CEOs from Fortune 500 companies, strategic planning, marketing and fundraising. During the course of her career, she has been responsible for effecting anywhere between $10 million to $60 million dollars in annual revenue in development and consistently has exceeded her institutional goals.
